This was during the height of the recession, but with a clear strategy and passion to deliver, Urban Nation was born as an edgy, yet relevant, mass market go-to agency.
As with any start-up, it was challenging, but clients slowly came to love Urban Nation’s consumer insights, hands-on approach and can-do attitude. In no time, the company was servicing top blue chip companies. This opened the door to launch several subsidiary entities and investments, leading to the Group consolidation in 2016 to service other industries.

Our Founder Lloyd Msomi has been entrepreneurial since early years in high school,
The Urban Nation seed however, was planted later years when Lloyd Msomi found himself frustrated being a “token” in boardrooms, and constantly observing clients engage and give repeated work to agencies that did not understand their market and end consumers.
In 2009, he eventually decided to make a difference and quit full-time employment to pursue his vision of building an independent diversified group.
